Hobbyist,
Denver, CO
Fletcher Zaragoza, who creates music under the moniker Hobbyist, has carried a quiet love for music since childhood. He's been writing songs for over 21 years, starting out on piano, then saxophone, before settling into guitar as his main instrument. His approach to music is simple and personal—less like a career pursuit and more like a lifelong craft, built with patience and care, like model trains or ships in bottles.
A trained illustrator and freelance creative, Fletcher spends his days helping bring visual ideas to life, and his off-hours writing, performing, recording, mixing, and mastering his own songs in Ableton. He often describes his tracks as "do-dads" and "trinkets"—small, handmade pieces meant to be shared and appreciated rather than broadcast loudly.
His sound is shaped by late-'80s and '90s car rides with his parents, early-2000s music discoveries with friends, and a continued habit of musical curiosity into his 30s. He shares life and music with his wife Sarah of 10 years and their two children, who are often the first audience for whatever he's building next. For Hobbyist, music is simply a steady, grateful practice of making and keeping small, beautiful things.
